Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge sales tax?
Yes! We charge sales tax on all orders shipped to California addresses.
Do you offer free shipping?
We currently charge shipping to ensure your big bars arrive safely. However, we love a good deal! We frequently offer free shipping codes via our newsletter. Join our newsletter so you never miss out.
For soap, does SIZE matter?
Absolutely!
Handcrafted soap naturally has minor variations in size. It is a big NO-NO (there are legal requirements for soap labels, not to mention it’s a bit shady) to use the word “approx” when referring to soap weight. Soap may weigh more than the label states, but never less. Our soaps are labeled according to the lowest weight in that batch, so you may receive soaps slightly heavier than labeled, but never lighter.
We like a BIG BAR (and we think you will too)! Our soap is 25% larger than the average handmade soap, lasting longer and giving you more bang for your buck. Most bars are cut 1.25 inches thick—these are seriously BIG bars! Please note: some shrinkage naturally occurs as the soap cures, but our bars are still big.
What do you use to scent your soap?
We use essential oils and body-safe fragrance oils. You can find which one was used in the product info section for each soap.
Why does my soap look different than the picture?
Every bar we make is a unique piece of functional art! While our recipes never change, the handcrafted process means that color, swirl patterns, and designs will vary from batch to batch.
A few things to keep in mind regarding your soap's "look":
Natural Variations: Pictures are for reference, but your specific bar will have its own unique personality.
Fading: Soaps colored with natural botanicals or clays may fade slightly over time, especially if stored in direct sunlight.
"Soda Ash": You might notice a harmless, thin white powder on the surface of your soap. This is called soda ash, a natural occurrence in the soap-making process. It is completely safe and will disappear the very first time you use the bar!
While ingredients are the same for each batch, color and design patterns can vary. For example, the "Lemon Patchouli" soap uses the same ingredients every batch, but the swirls create a unique pattern each time.
Is there lye in your soap?
No. Sodium hydroxide (lye) is used in all soap making, but the saponification process converts it into soap and glycerin. No lye remains in the final product.
Can your soap treat skin conditions?
Our soaps are intended for cleansing and are not classified as drugs. Because we value transparency, every ingredient is listed on our packaging and website—allowing you to make the most informed choice for your skincare routine.
What is the shelf life of the soap?
Unused soap can last up to 1 year if stored properly. Humidity, heat, air, and UV light are the enemies of natural products. Store soap in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Even if the scent fades, the soap is still usable—but why wait? There’s always more where it came from!
How do I care for handcrafted soap?
Allow your soap to dry between uses. Place it on a draining soap dish or use a mesh soap saver to let water drain. Your soap will last longer and perform better!
